More Road Trips, New Vice-President Promises:

In his campaign speech for Vice President of the Vintage Thunderbird Club, Mike “Landslide” Mawhirter pledged more road
trips and out of the office activities under his reign!
Yes, on November 17, the annual Mid-Kansas Vintage Thunderbird elections were held at election headquarters; Spears Restaurant.

Newly elected Officers were:

 President: Rod Wake (unopposed)
Vice President:  Mike “Landslide” Mawhirter
Secretary: Beverly Wake (unopposed)
won re-election to another term,
Treasurer: Lynda Fichter  (unopposed)
will hold the purse strings another term

Mike Mawhirter further stated that he wants to schedule road trips to nearby destinations more than in the past, year round,
and will be driving them in his 1963 Thunderbird and urged others to get  their Vintage cars roadworthy.
Mike might, however introduce his 1952 Mercury to the club on some of the ventures.
Mike’s campaign for Vice President was assisted greatly by incumbent Richard Carlisle who was heard to chant,
“I vote for Mike, I vote for Mike!”

Lake Afton Show Belongs to Us:

At the November meeting of the Wichita Area Council of Car Clubs on November 15, Royce our Rep, along with
Prez from our club and Jim Hein from the Classic Club officially bid on, and won, the sponsorship of the
2012 Lake Afton All Wheels Rally for the two Thunderbird clubs.
That means our Thunderbirds will be featured on the full page ad in the Cruizin Calendar, and on the T-Shirts sold at the show

We also receive special treatment by way of a reserved parking area for our cars.
Our $400 bid was accepted, and each club has paid $200 to the WACCC Treasurer.
We  almost always pick up a new member or two from Lake Afton and this year ought to be a good one for Thunderbirds!

Club Pledges Support of “The Chill” in February:

Carl Marts has worked on a deal with an auto signs, memorabilia and vintage clothing supplier in sharing booth space at
The Chill car and motorcycle show at the Kansas Coliseum in February.
Our club cars will be used as a draw, our allotted space would be used to sell the products, and the club would receive
approximately 10% of the proceeds from the sales of the vendor’s products.

After much discussion at the November meeting, the Club made a conservative pledge to have 8 or 10 cars at the booth.
We will try it this year and see what happens.
Carl is going to be working the sales booth on behalf of the merchant and made the arrangements for the club.
We will tell you more about it at the January 2012 meeting.
Again, the event is scheduled for February 24, 25, and 26th 2012

Unique In All The World:

The Newsletter continues its series picturing Thunderbirds seen around the VTCI Regional and International Circuit as well as local club events.
With each Thunderbird featured, you should see why the Vintage Ford Thunderbird is considered to be “Unique In All The World!”

This month’s feature:

Jim Fatheree of the Sooner Thunderbird Club of Oklahoma City shows his diamond blue ’62  Convertible to Beverly Wake at the VTCI South Central
Regional in Oklahoma City, 2009.
It was also present at the SC Regional at Fredricksburg, TX in 2011.
This beautiful blue convertible with a tonneau cover is further dressed up
with ample chrome under the hood and is just an all around
pretty Thunderbird.
A crowd gathered and shouted out in unison, “That car is unique.

Why, why,….it is  Unique in all the World!”

This will be an all new format for the Wichita Classic/Mid-
Kansas Vintage Christmas Party.
This one will be held in the Tower Room at the Airport  Hilton. DECEMBER 4th!!

We  will be dining in a private dining room downstairs at  the Hilton.
Then,  back up to our Tower Room for final festivities.
